Sarah Jones
Sarah is the human behind Mucky Pup Photography, a dedicated pet photography service which is based in Swansea, but covers all of the South Wales region and beyond. The Mucky Pup Photography mission is “Celebrating Dogkind…through the lens” and Sarah has made that her goal for the last 8 years. Dexter, her border collie, is the muse behind Mucky Pup Photography. He has been her trusted model and go to dog for practising new techniques for the last ten years – he has the modelling down to a T. Sarah first started her photography journey as a young child taking quick snaps of holidays, pets, horses (basically anything) on an old, bright yellow, compact film camera. As a teenager, she graduated to an Olympus film SLR, then later took the plunge to digital. Whilst she is predominantly self taught, she took a short Open University course as an introduction to digital photography back in 2008. Now Sarah shoots with a Canon 5Diii and her main focus is on dog and pet photography. She has been shortlisted into the Top 100 in an International Pet Photography competition two years running. Her ethos has always been to capture the pure essence of the dogs she meets, but in a relaxed and chilled manner, with as little stress to the dog as possible. She shoots both on location and in the studio and always uses rewards based techniques to encourage the dogs to hold a pose where they can. But, she also knows that in some instances dogs will be dogs and it’s her job to capture the unadulterated joy that dogs live, breathe and feel in any given moment.
